Herring Properties, a Princeton based real estate development company headed by Princeton native Jamie Herring, is building a portfolio of quality commercial properties throughout the mid-Atlantic. Founded in the late 1990s, Herring Properties has quickly acquired a portfolio of 1,800,000 square feet of office, industrial and residential properties.
The firm's niche is to acquire real estate from corporations who are disposing of non-core assets, for reasons such as consolidation, relocation or financial restructuring. Herring Properties specializes in repositioning and reconstructing the property as multi-tenanted facilities.
Herring Properties was awarded the 2011/12 winner of the Mixed Use category for land development from the Somerset County Planning Board on January 17, 2012.
This award was given in special recognition of the following:
- Repositioning of a 30-year-old office building and lease up to 90% with major corporate tenants: Johnson & Johnson and Blessing White
- Construction of a solar array that provides 40% of the power to the office building
- Construction of 160 residential units that offer walk-to-work opportunities and affordable housing
- Storm water management on site
- Creation of 40 acres of conservation area with additional two acres of trees
Additionally, in 2009 Herring Properties was the recipient of New Jersey Business magazine's New Good Neighbor Award; an award designed to recognize “the best and most exciting commercial and industrial development projects in New Jersey”.
